Lost and FOUND

Brett and I went on a little 3 week vacation at the end of June, early July. First to California then on to Colorado. Well after returning from our trip, I couldn't find my camera, or any of our gift cards we received as wedding gifts!! So for the last month and a half I've been losing my mind trying to think of where I might have left them, lost them, or if they could have been stolen??? The beach? The airport? Waterworld? Did I throw the gift cards away during one of my "too frequent de-junk the house" rampaids?

Last night, I had the random thought, I "hid" my camera in the back of Brett's parents car while we were in Denver. You know, behind the drivers seat, in those big pockets! It randomly and amazingly hit me that I put my camera behind the drivers seat when we all went to waterworld (didn't want it getting wet or stolen). Last night, Brett called his mom, had her check behind the drivers seat and whoala! Not only was my camera there, but a little metal tin with a bunch of gift cards were there as well!!!! Relief and a happy husband at last!! JK, Brett wasn't really mad, he just thought I threw the gift cards away while de-junking:)

Back at it

Sorry this is a long one.
There was a time before I was married when I was getting up at 6:oo every morning to go for a run (because I really love to run)......Then I'd go to work for 8 hours....come home, spent time with Brett or my girlfriends, and never went to bed before 1:00am. I ran 1/2 marathons, a marathon, and went on long runs every weekend. Since I've been married, I can't seem to get out of bed before 7:00 am.....I'm lucky if I run 3 times a week......still go to work for 8 hrs.....I come home and I'm wiped out and in bed by 11:00. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??? I've lost my drive, my motivation. I used to love running and it was by far the most productive and enjoyable exercise for me. Why can't I just get up, out, and run?
Well, I've figured it out......It's hard to get out of bed at 6 in the morning to go for a run when you know your husband will be sleeping soundly until 8. It's hard knowing that when you get back, he'll probably be gone for the day and you won't see him until 6 or 7 pm that night. So I gradually quit waking up early to go run. I tell myself "I'll go after work," which actually happens 50% of the time because it's even harder to leave your husband at night when you haven't seen each other ALL day, just to go for a run, when really all you want to do is relax with your hubby. I guess this is a newlywed thing:)
This is how I went from running almost every day......to running MAYBE 3 times a week, and my runs got shorter too.
Well, I've learned that for both Brett and myself....it's better if I just get up and run! It's better for me because 1) I have more energy throughout the day, 2) it allows me to clear my mind, and 3) I feel better about myself when I'm in shape and my jeans fit. This is better for Brett because 1) I'm more energetic, 2) my head is clear and I'm not crazy, and 3) I'm much more pleasant when my jeans fit!
So I've snapped out of it. I've started running again.....This Saturday I'm running the Hobblecreek half marathon. I know, it's not the smartest way to get back into it..... I'll kill my legs and have bloody blisters on my feet, but darn-it, I'm doin' it!!!

Go Cougs!

Brett kicked off the football season on Friday afternoon!! He reported at 4 pm, so I was thrilled when he was calling me at 9:45 that night (thinking, Wow, he's done early). They were in fact done for the night, but then Brett told me he was going to be sleeping at the stadium. He had 20 minutes to run home and get anything he needed. More than anything, I was jealous....I wanted to go sleep in the stadium too. Next year maybe I'll ask Bronco if the wives can come....or if we can have our own lil' camp out!!! It was our first night apart since we've been married:( I guess it was going to happen sooner or later. Lucky for me, my mom was in town and she stayed with me.

It was this time last year that Brett and I had just started dating. The 6th, to be exact, was the first time we kissed. And it was all down-hill from there. Now, here we are a year later...married.

I'm excited for this season, even if it means seeing a little (ok a lot) less of Brett! I guess, after playing volleyball in college I understand the time commitment it requires. I'm just excited to see him play and hope the team does well.

Lookin' good 92

DISCLAIMER

I know, I'm guilty of the cardinal blogger's sins.....NOT UPDATING. I have a good excuse though. I lost my camera. You see, I had some great pictures I wanted to post from the fun 3 week vacation Brett & took over a month ago, and was prolonging updating until I found it! Plus, I wanted to keep my blog in order of events. Isn't that a another blogger's sin...blogging out of order?? Well, since I'm obviously not up to par on blogging, I'm just going to throw this disclaimer out there: This blog may occasionally appear out-dated & events may appear out of order. The Denneys currently don't have a camera, so ithis blog may also appear lifeless & unanimated. Sorry:)

New Job!

Tomorrow, I am starting a new job! While Brett and I were on vacation, I was offered a position at LogoWorks in American Fork, Utah. It's a logo design company owned by HP that designs logos for small businesses. I will be the Executive Assistant to the CEO of the companay. I have been nothing but excited until tonight, my nerves are getting a bit jittery. It's just now hitting me that a new job means leaving my comfort zone, and stepping into a world of new people, new tasks, and new routines. I guess all change is a bit scary. I'm just hoping this will be a great change for myself! Nerves aside, I'm still excited. I'm ready for something new and challenging so everyone, please wish me luck!!

Weekend Get-Away to Colorado!!!

With the long Memorial Day weekend, Brett and I headed to Thornton to visit his parents!!! We had sooo much fun. It was just the break we needed from school, work, and life in Provo. It was hard to come back. We left early friday morning and came back late monday night. We jammed a whole lot of fun into just a couple of days! Brett's agenda consisted of eating at his favorite restaurants, Heaven Dragon & Wingman, watching the new Indiana Jones flick, and hittin' up the batting cages at Boondocs (Brett wanted to practice a lil' before his next softball game.)

Heaven Dragon is probably the best chinese food I've ever tasted, and Brett swears Wingman's got the best wings in the world. They were good, but I'm no wing critic, so I'll just take his word for it. We watched the first Indiana Jones to prep us and get us in the mood for the new one.
Here's us at the batting cages!

I'm pretty sure Sheri's better at batting than me....just look at her form:) No really, I quit half way through because the bat stung my hands and i was stinkin' it up!

The helmets were too small for Bretts head, and too dirty for mine. Who knows how many heads have been in those helmets. And do ya think they ever clean em? Ewww!

Saturday night I had my first experience playing dominoes at the Thornton's house with some of Craig & Sheri's friends. I wasn't sure how playing dominoes could be any fun but since it's a Denney favorite, I thought I should give it a try. It's definitely grown on me, I had fun. Plus, I ended up with some beginners luck and did pretty good, so that's always fun!

PLAY BALL

The other day Brett had an intramural softball game, which as you can tell, he takes pretty seriously. He plays on a team with a bunch of his buddies and some of the other football players, and they are all pretty serious about it, even practicing once or twice a week! Anyways, this was the first game Brett could actually make so he was super stoked to play.

He even wore his ASA hat (Amateur Softball Association) that he usually wears for umping, and this old-school baseball tee, which might be a lil' small for the big boy!!! Haha, I love it though. And of course his mouth was packed full with his favorite Dill Pickle seeds!

UNFORTUNATELY, the other team no-showed, and the boys won by forfeit! But they weren't about to pass up the opportunity to play a little. So for the next hour they had a little batting practice. After about twenty minutes of that Brett was bored! He hopped on his friend's old bike and started riding it around the field and "riding the bases." He looked hilarious!!

I need a hobby!!!

Brett recently started umpiring city league softball games three nights a week. Usually he works from 6pm-10pm, but some nights he works from 7pm-11pm. Ugggg!!! What's a girl supposed to do all by her lonesome? After working all day all I really wanna do is relax, but that's only fun when Brett and I can relax together, watch movies, or our favorite tv shows. Lately, I'll get home from work, we'll have dinner together, and then he gets ready to go. The last few nights he's worked I've been twiddling my thumbs thinking of things to do. Sad right? I go to the gym (but i only last a good hour there), which still allows time for twiddling my thumbs. I gave myself the best home-pedicure tonight, I guess that could become a weekly routine! ANYWAYS, WHAT I NEED IS A HOBBY. Everyone seems to have something they are good at and love to do, like scrap-booking or something artsy. Nope, not me. So I'm open to hear what some of YOUR hobbies are. What can I do to keep myself from dying of boredom, and feel like I'm being productive with my time???? HELP:)

Sooo Stinkin' Cute

This is our lil' niece Gracelyn, my oldest brother Tyler & his wife Ashley's little girl. She's about 8 months old, and seriously so stinkin' cute. I absolutely love her crazy blond hair & chubby lil cheeks. But what I love even more is that she's a lil' rockstar. My sister-in-law was in town the other day so I got to babysit for a few hours while she got her hair done. Brett & I don't have any fun toys at our house, so I just gave her some of our new bright, fun, colored bowls & our rockband drumsticks. Then she found the microphone!! I think she's the next member of our band, haha! She loved it! Practically a natural, especially with the mike. How does an 8 month old know what to do with a microphone???

Gracelyn is just one of the six of our neices and nephews....I'll just say Brett & I have some serious pressure to make some good-lookin' babies.

What We Call Fun!!!!

Rockband and "The Office." This is what Brett & I do for fun. It's practically become a nightly routine for us. Dinner, Rockband, "The Office", sleep. A while ago, Brett bought Rockband with a gift card he received as a bowl game gift (Hey at least I benefited from it! Gotta love football!) I didn't know how much we'd actually use it. And when we first started dating Brett was big into the tv show "The Office." I didn't care for it at all, but I watched it with him anyways. Now, I'm addicted to both. It's like I can't sleep if I don't at least get an episode in a night. Plus, Brett is trying to make sure I've seen all of the episodes of the last few seasons, before the show finally starts up again NEXT THURSDAY. Yes, we are stoked!!

JOIN THE BAND!!!

So, Rockband consists of the guitar player, the bass player, the lead singer, and the drummer. Since its just the two of us, I'm usually on the drums & Brett takes the guitar. Don't worry, I'm still on "easy" and he's on "expert." As fun a it is with just the two of us, it doesn't really feel like a band. 9:00 ish is when our gig starts every night so feel to come by for an audition:)

Peanut Butter Princess

So a few days ago Brett & I were driving to Grand Junction to exchange vehicles with my parents. They had let us drive their car back from the Alamosa reception so we could bring all of our wedding gifts back; my car is just way too small. Of course we packed some snacks for the trip & Brett brought a little container of peanut butter & a banana. One thing he may not have known about me before this little trip was my love for peanut butter....so let me just put this out there, I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER! I know it's full of fat, high in calories, and really not the best for ya, but I can't help it, I love it!
As we were driving, I decided to finish off Brett's peanut butter with my apple. I really do love pb w/ apples, but Brett caught me using an apple slice as a spoon...and I happened to have pb all over my fingers & face (It difficult to get the pb out of the bottom of this container:) Anyways, Brett looked at me and just died laughing. He started calling me his Peanut Butter Princess!! Now, anytime I eat pb I get a little crap from him.
What can I say? I absolutely love peanut butter! I love it plain (yes by the spoonful), on breads, fruits, carrots (a little weird i know), and I absolutely love any dessert with peanut butter in it, and any peanut butter/chocolate combo is great!!! C'mon girls, I know I'm not alone on this one? Why is it so dang good? My absolute FAVORITE peanut butter treats that just happened to be super naughty are:

*Peanut Butter & Marshmallows melted on a tortilla (in the oven or microwave)
* Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies (and so easy)
* My mom's famous peanut butter balls (mmmm....melt in your mouth)
* PB & J's (of course)
* Peanut Butter Cheerio squares
* Peanut Butter on Pancakes:)

Now I know you're all thinking I pig out on peanut butter all day....I really don't eat these yummy treats very often. But I sure enjoy em when I do!!!

Our big wedding day came and went, and now we're back to our normal lives in Provo, only as newlyweds....soo much fun! Our big wedding weekend lasted about five days. Brett & I left Provo Tuesday night after practice, got into Thornton Wednesday morning around 10:00am. Wednesday we got our marriage licence, Brett's tux, I did some shopping with the fam, and then went to the temple for my endowment. Afterwards we had a family dinner at Country Buffet...which was fun for our family & friends to mingle a little....then it was bye bye Brett & see ya in the morning:) Thursday the 13th we were sealed, had a reception that night in Thornton. Our big honeymoon getaway was at a resort in Colorado Springs for a night, then Saturday we drove to Alamosa (4hrs away, no big deal), for a reception there. Then Sunday morning, we hit the road again (8 hrs to Utah). Monday morning.....back to real life!!! It was a jam-packed weekend, with way too much traveling, but I wouldn't have done it any other way! It was so great, so fun. I'm not sure I cared what exactly happened after Thursday morning in the temple!!! After that, I was a married woman!! Both receptions really were absolutely amazing though, and our families were so generous and such troopers to do all of the traveling they did to be there!!!

ps. I didn't think to have someone take pictures with my own camera so I could update my blog asap, so unfortunately, i don't have many pictures yet....but i promise to get em up soon!

FINAL COUNTDOWN

The countdown is here!!! Brett & I are 1 WEEK away from gettin' hitched. As we count down, here is what I am looking forward to the most:

7: Not having to say goodnight! Right now, the hardest part about being engaged is having to say goodnight, then not getting to see Brett until after practice the next day!!! Plus, I hate getting into a cold car late at night. It'll be so nice not to have to leave each other :)
6: Going to bed early!!! Haha!!! Every married couple I know goes to bed at like 9:00p.m. Ok, maybe we won't go to bed that early, but it will be oh-so-nice to get a lil' more sleep than I have over the last 7 months! Maybe i can kick my diet coke/diet dr. pepper addiction, i won't need the caffeine to wake me up and keep me going. Jk, I'm not really an addict and we don't really stay up THAT late! Anyways, it'll just be nice to go to bed with Brett at a descent hour, we both definitely need it!
5. Having a boy as a roommate!! I've lucked out and had great girl roommates, no crazies or psychos, but I'm so excited to actually LIVE with Brett. Just me and him! I'm sure I have a few things to learn about living with a boy (one that i'm married to, it's gotta be different than living with three brothers growing up! ha!) I'm excited to learn new things about each other too:)
4. Having our first home together:) It's just an apartment, but it's big & spacious, & it'll be fun to make it our own home:)
3. I'm super excited to have lil' munchkin Denneys someday (actually i have a feeling they won't be so little). Even though this is a WAYS down the road for us, it is still exciting to think about having a FAMILY with Brett!
2. Just so you know, we are getting ready to leave as I write this!!!! Wow, it really is just two days away!!! I'm excited to sleep in on Saturday mornings together!!! Ohh that will be great!!!
1. Being sealed to Brett & our family forever & ever...yep we're stuck (in a great way!!!)

BACHELORETTE PAARRTTYYY

So me, my HOT roomies (Traci, Anna, & Jacinth) and my FAB girlfriends Jayci & Melissa, had one heck of a lil' party Saturday night! Brett was out with the boys (eating dinner and playing halo) while us girls went to dinner, out for ICE CREAM, and then had the craziest dance party 6 girls can have!! We started it with 44 oz Diet Dr. Peppers....yes we are all addicted:) With the 44 ounces of caffeine (plusthe diet sodas at dinner) the energy cranked up quite a bit. That can't be healthyright? But it was a one-time bachelorette SPLURGE! Ha ha!

The big day is 1 week and 1 day away! Ahhhhh! Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!!
