Ok, let me just start by saying, Brett is not a planner and Brett doesn't do suprises. I on the otherhand, have to plan and absolutely love surprises!!! Amazingly he managed to plan the proposal and totally suprise me!!! It was perfect! The day he left for the Vegas Bowl we decided to actually go look at rings. We had been talking about getting married for a while and had just been looking at rings online just trying to get an idea of what we both liked. I had no idea (no, I haven't had my dream wedding ring picked out since i was 16 years old). So we went to Sierra West in Orem thinking we were just going to look around, try a few rings on and get a feel for what we both liked. We ended up leaving the store with a ring on reserve an hour and half later....how did that happen? It only left Brett just fourty five minutes to pack and get to the airport to leave for Vegas. So he was stressed and rushing to pack while i was in la-la land (because we'd found a beautiful ring that I loved!!) so I'm not sure how much help I was to him!
Thankfully, Brett made it to the airport on time! That next weekend I went up to the bowl game with his family (BYU won, wahoo!!!) and on Dec. 23rd we all flew to Denver together where my parents met us at the Denney's home in Thornton. This was the first time the parents met, ahhh scary, but it went great! We spent Christmas with our own families and then Brett came down to Alamosa on the 28th to spend the weekend with my fam.....plus he had to get a taste of Alamosa. I promise, it's on the map! It does exist, and it's not really the armpit of the world like everyone says!
On Monday the 31st we headed back up to Thornton. On the way there, we stopped at the Denver Temple. This was the temple I grew up coming to to do baptisms but I hadn't been in years!!!! The temple was actually closed and no one was there, but the gates were open so we were able to get out and walk around. As we're walking I thought to myself "I wish he had the ring" but logically it was impossible. The one ring we'd looked at was on reserve back in Provo. Plus, Brett had been talking about looking at some places in Denver this week while we were here. But sneaky little Brett shocked my socks off when he pulled out a ring, THE RING, (after having a sweet little chat about our future and getting married). Before he could actually ask the big question, I was screaming and jumping around like a little school girl!! It took a couple of minutes for me the shut up long enough for him to ask me to marry him. Of course I said yes, and it included much more screamin, and jumping, hugging, and kissing!!! Brett had been in touch with the jeweler the week he was in Vegas and then had it mailed to his house in Thornton. He even took the ring down to Alamosa and showed it to my parents, when he asked for their permission and blessing, and told them all about his proposal plan! I think he was shooting for some brownie points there. But seriously, i was so surprised and very impressed with his planning!
We're so excited and can't wait to get married, even though we have no idea when exactly that will be.....March? April? Please not any longer than that, haha! I absolutely love Brett and couldn't have imagined a better or more perfect proposal!!!! Thanks babe!!!

Kristy, I'm so glad you started a blog so we can keep in touch in a way other than webcam. Let's face it, I turn into a mute on that thing for some reason. Thanks, but I'm in no way the blog expert and started off clueless and had to figure everything out. I loved reading about you and Brett because I can tell how much you love each other. I also felt when you were describing Brett that it sounded just like John. Don't worry, I married a 6' 6" four year old and it's a lot of fun! I can't wait for you to join our family. We are going to have so much fun!
