Las Vegas Bowl 2009

BYU played Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl Game last week. Yes, they played my Alma Mater, but of course I was wearing blue! BYU came away with the win. We were all freezing the entire game (as you can see we are all bundled up), but it was still fun! This was the only picture I got of the game....oopsBrett's dedicated and supportive fam.....they've been at every game!!! Crazy fans.....
We had a great time in Vegas, and the game was a great ending to a great career for Brett. The day after the game we headed to Colorado to spend Christmas with the Denneys!!!

Winter Wonder Land

It's a Winter Wonder Land in Alpine! Last night it snowed like crazy, and we woke up to even more this morning as it just kept coming down. I love it!

This week we will start moving into our new apartment. Brett is OFFICIALLY DONE WITH SCHOOL!! Congrats to him! We have no idea what our plan is now that he's done, but we found a place in Lehi that is close to work for me and only required a 6 month lease. So I guess we will be around for at least that long. We leave for the Vegas Bowl this Friday, from there head to Denver for Christmas, to Alamosa for New Year's, and won't be back until the first week of January. I'm soo ready for a nice break! Then it's crunch time to get settled into our apartment and ready for this baby to come. Did I mention I'm nowhere near ready?

As Brett has been finishing up with final projects and taking his LAST couple of finals, we've still found some time for Holiday Parties and fun with friends....

Loving this time of year!

Turkey Day and the Rivalry Game

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We had a delicious feast here in Alpine with Brett's parents, Kimi, and Traci and Collin. We spent all morning preparing the food, ate, and then spent the afternoon and evening laying around, watching football, playing rock band and playing mariokart! Everything was just as Thanksgiving should be!

Saturday was the big BYU vs Utah Rivalry Game. I can't tell you how happy and relieved I was that it was a home game! BYU pulled off the win in overtime, 26-23! Of course it was a nail biting, nerve-wracking, and highly emotional game. (Just as all BYU vs Utah games are!)

It ended with thousands of people rushing the field. Why Sheri, Kim, and I thought it was a good idea to run out there as well??? Not sure, we nearly got trampled.

#92 Warming up. Loved the old school Royal Blue Jerseys!

After the game

Seniors...Matt, Jan, & Brett

Matt, Andrew, & Brett

Brett's parents, and his sister Kim, have been coming to BYU games since their oldest son Ryan played at BYU in 1998. This was their last game at Lavelle Edwards Stadium.....at least until their grandsons are playing for BYU in 15 or so years.

Three seasons ago I was watching Brett play as the twitterpated girlfriend:) Last season, I was the newlywed wife, watching more diligently and with a little more worry. And this season, there's been two of us cheerin' for him....me and the lil' guy in the belly.

It's been a fun three years of football. I've loved watching Brett play and I'm so proud of him and all of his accomplishments! I'm excited to see what this next "season" of life after BYU football brings us!!

Catching Up

I've been such a slacker with the blogging lately. I'm trying to play catch up, and hopefully I can stay caught up! I had a blast with my family (missed ya Ash, Crew, and Carly) down in Albuquerque for the BYU vs UNM game a few weeks ago. I didn't come home with many pictures, like usual. But it was great to spend time with my family since I wouldn't be seeing them for Thanksgiving this year.

Of course, Gracelyn was the center of attention the entire weekend

She loved Cosmo!
Loved cheering for BYU
And she was pretty intriqued with the baby in my tummy!

H*A*L*L*O*W*E*E*N

Halloween just happened to fall on a bye weekend, so we had no football game!!! Saturday we headed up to Logan, Ut with Melissa and Skyler to hang out with Traci and Collin for the weekend. We ate lots of yummy food, watched Friday the 13th, played games, watched football, and just relaxed! It was great! Thanks Collin and Traci for the fun weekend and letting us crash up there!

We got all dressed up in costumes and went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner....

The couple from the 70's

The Monk and the Nun

The Fly and the Spider We set the timer on our camer to take a picture of us....and it ended up taking like 10 in a row. So we had a fun little photo shoot!

More Than Just a Bump!

I haven't been great about updating on the pregnancy. For a quick re-cap: The first trimester was a little rough, throwing up morning and night wasn't fun at all! But magically, around 13 weeks I woke up and felt AMAZING-I wanted to EAT real food again (not just crackers).
The second trimester has been great! At 16 weeks we found out we're having a boy, and just a few weeks ago we had our 20 week ultrasound, and he is lookin' healthy. I'm 23 weeks and feeling good! I feel the lil' guy kickin' and moving around a lot. Sometimes at work while I'm just sitting at my desk, I look down at my belly and watch it move as he kicks and punches. It's the best, I just watch it and laugh. Brett can feel and see his kicks too. He loves it!
We have a name for the lil' guy, but are choosing not to share.....you will all just have to wait until he's born, and then you'll just have to like it:)

At my 20 week ultrasound the technician told us baby Denney was measuring a little small. Brett freaked out, "What, Denney babies don't measure small?" And then he insisted I needed to eat more. Well last week at my appointment, my doctor told me I am measuring a week bigger than my due date. Brett must have offended the lil' guy and now he's out to prove he's not a weakling or small. But seriously, my belly has grown so much in the last two weeks. Yes, it freaks me out and has me a little worried that he'll be a gigantuous baby, but I'm just trying to enjoy it all!!

So here's the "more than just a bump" picture some of you have been waiting for.

23 weeks.....still feels like forever to go!!

Dreaming......about a babymoon

I am currently dreaming about dashing away with Brett to a tropical location, and enjoying a fun and relaxing week-long vacation before this baby comes. But it's just not in the cards for us. With football, school, and work it's impossible. I'm due February 24th, and Brett's done with football and school in December. January is probably too late for me to be flying, or on a boat, or on a remote island miles and miles away! Plus, I can't imagine feeling like a beached-whale on vacation would be much fun or comfortable??

I guess we'll have to do a post-Babymoon sometime next year. In the meantime, I'll just keep dreaming about it.....

Just a Thought

The virtue of your own life will be a light to those who sit in darkness, because you are a living witness of the fullness of the gospel. HER CANDLE GOETH OUT NOT BY NIGHT. We are here to be a light. To lead others safely home.
There is a great light within each of us. A light we brought with us. This light comes from a divine source and is made even brighter on the earth as we partake of the enabling power of the atonement.
Jesus said, ‘I am the light and the life and the truth of the world.’ If we tap into the true source of Everlasting light through daily prayer, studying and pondering the scriptures, service and surrounding ourselves with things that are of good report and praiseworthy we can have the companionship of the Spirit to help us utilize the power of the atonement for good in our individual lives and in our homes. A light that never goes out for those we love
.”

--- President Uchtdorf

I read this quote earlier in the week and have found myself thinking about it often, and reading it over and over. Just thought I'd share.

Cocoa Anyone?

Call me crazy, but I am obsessed with having a cup of hot cocoa every night before bed. It's not even cold outside yet. But last week we had ONE rainy, gloomy, and chilly day that made me just want to curl up on the couch with a cup of cocoa. So that's exactly what I did that night.....and just about every night since. I'm ready for fall and winter!!

Quite the Little Package.....

As our ultrasound technician put it yesterday, "baby Denney has quite the little package!"
IT'S A BOY!!!

BYU vs Oklahoma.....A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!

Walking into the stadium (a very nice OU fan offered to take our pic-they were by far the classiest fans!)
The back shot, looking at the stadium The GI-NORMOUS Jumbotron
Brett ran the flag out
Final Score: BYU 14 - OU 13 (the score board was so hard to see, my only complaint about the stadium)
The Haka after the game! Brett gets so into it, I love it!
A very happy hubby:)
Me and Linds after the game
Kimi and Brett
All of us!
What a game! My heart was pounding ALL 4 quarters. The intensity, anxiety, screaming and cheering, jumping up and down, losing my voice, was all so much fun! The stadium was amazing, the game was amazing, and I had a great time (lots of laughing) with the in-laws!
Go Cougs! Can't wait for another game!

The First of the Cravings

Give me some of these....

Sprinkled with a little of this.....

And I'm in heaven!!

I've always enjoyed a fresh lemon in my water, but now I crave the whole thing, just like an orange (only with a little salt). I know, I know, it's terrible for my teeth. I try not to indulge too often!

The Secret is Out......

BABY #1 IS ON ITS WAY
12 weeks is a long time to keep a secret, but I'm finally there and we feel pretty confident sharing our exciting news with everyone!! We heard the little heart beat just over a week ago...it was such a neat experience!!

Just for some fun....

This was totally me...

I am currently TRYING to avoid this....

Not really looking forward to this....

But starting to notice a little of this....
I know Brett can't wait for this....

And we are both trying NOT to think about this.....

All joking aside, we really are THRILLED to have a little baby joining our family in February!!

We can't wait to find out what we are having, and although I've been nauseous, vomiting, and tired all of the time, I couldn't be happier! Brett's instincts say it's a girl, whereas I don't have a clue! Let's hope those maternal instincts kick in soon:)

WHAT DO YOU THINK WE WILL HAVE??

This is such an exciting time for us, we will try to keep everyone updated!
